A SNOW EMERGENCY is in affect UNTIL 10:00 AM THURSDAY
Rules & Regulations regarding snow emergencies
The following information is provided to you as a business or resident residing along a designated snow emergency route. These are the general regulations that address your responsibility during a snow emergency. They are guidelines only; a detailed copy of the ordinance is available for public inspection at the borough office.
* Snow emergencies are declared by the Mayor and will be announced by means of local broadcasts, telecasts or other means available between the hours of 6:00 a.m and 11:00 a.m. The local radio and TV stations we report snow emergencies to are: FM103, FM107.7, AM910, FM98, WGAL 8, and WPMT 43. You can also find the announcement on our webiste at www.springgroveboro.com. Please note that the borough has no control over what the stations may or may not report. In addition, we will have a recorded message on the borough office answering machine.
* Parking shall be prohibited on any posted snow emergency route two (2) hours after the effective time of any snow emergency. Prohibited parking shall remain in effect until the end of the snow emergency, which will be included in the announcement.
* With permission from several private parking lot owners, Borough Council has designated certain parking lots as “snow emergency parking lots.” These lots are available to those residents only that reside on a posted snow emergency route only during the time period in which a snow emergency is in effect. DO NOT PARK ON THE DESIGNATED LOTS UNLESS A SNOW EMERGENCY HAS BEEN DECLARED.
* The following parking lots have been approved as snow emergency lots.
1. St. Paul Lutheran Church: E Church Street (between East Street & Pine Ave.)
2. Spring Grove Area Community Center: N. Pine Avenue (between E. College Ave. & E. Constitution Avenue)
3. Spring Grove Area School District Administration Offices: E. College Ave. (between N. Pine Ave. & Spring Grove Elementary School)
4. VFW (West parking lot only): N. Water St. & W. First Ave. (between W. Jackson St. & the VFW building)
* If you choose to park on one of the designated snow emergency lots, all vehicles must be removed no later than twenty-four (24) hours after the announced termination time.
* Failure to remove a vehicle from the designated parking lot after the termination of a snow emergency will be towed at the owner’s expense and will be issued a citation of no less than $50 and no more than $300.
Remember that it is through the generosity and kindness of these facilities that the Borough is able to provide an off street parking alternative during snow emergencies; therefore, please be considerate and do not park on these lots prior to the declaration of a snow emergency and remove all vehicles by the required time.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation. We hope that you find these parking options helpful during snow emergencies. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Mayor, or Andrew Shaffer, Manager, at the Borough Office (225-5791).
