Find out what is happening at the
Community Center!
On July 1, 1999, Spring Grove Borough took possession of the
former Spring Grove Area Intermediate School Building, located at 50 North East
Street. The vision of the Spring Grove Borough Council was and remains that the
building is used as a Community Center to serve the Boroughs and Townships of
the School District. They are Jefferson, New Salem, and Seven Valleys Boroughs;
and Heidelberg, Jackson, Paradise, and North Codorus Townships. This vision is
now becoming a reality.
There is a nine-member recreation board, consisting of membership from Spring
Grove Borough, North Codorus, and Jackson Townships. A greater membership
diversity from the remaining municipalities will be a focus in the future.
Programming
continues to grow, particularly since Kate Werntz joined our team as a
full-time, experienced Recreation Director. In addition, the Spring Grove
Area Athletic Association utilizes the gymnasium with boys and girls
basketball to over 500 youths. The Spring Grove Soccer Association also uses the
gymnasium for indoor soccer. In addition to the above-mentioned organizations,
other occupants include the Spring Grove Area Historical and Preservation
Society, Boy Scout Troop #30, Communities That Care, and Windy Hill Senior Center.
There are many other programs planned, both recreational and educational. To
receive an update on the status of the Community Center and its programs, please
feel free to call the Center at 717-225-9733 or e-mail
